Clearance in public transport

Clearance in public transport

 Principle clearance in public transport

For checking in cities where passengers do the checking themselves using contactless chip cards we offer an on-board system based on components produced by pour company:

  • on-board computers EPIS, they also save a database of executed transactions and run the checking applications and a firewall for GSM communication,
  • validators EVK 50  for checking with contactless chip cards including bank karts (validators are subordinate to on-board computers),
  • Ethernet switches with the possibility of supplying power to the validators directly via an UTP cable and the possibility of controlling the power supply from the on-board computer  ECU 08PO,
  • GSM modem EPG 4.0 (UMTS or LTE communication).

If tickets are sold by the driver it is possible to do passenger checking directly on an EPIS 4.0x on-board computer. The following pictures show an example of the state of checking and of the ticket sale display:

The EVK 50 contactless chip and bank card validator supports the Mifare as well as the Mifare Desfire standard or bank cards. This new validator meets the requirements placed on such systems and it is equipped with a high performance ARM processor and the Linux OS.

The basic features of EVK 50 include:

  • vehicle network voltage 16-32V,
  • low consumption 7W (this allows it to be directly connected to the  ECU-08PO Ethernet switch without the necessity of using parallel power supply conductors),
  • 5,7″ display with a durable touchscreen, 480 x 640 point resolution, 3:4 format, 500cd/m2 luminous intensity, lifespan 50000h (LED illumination), operation temperature from -20C to +80C,
  • Mifare card reader including Mifare Desfire, or Bank cards,
  • 4 slots for SAM modules,
  • Black box for saving transaction data, output data are saved for at least 31 days,
  • Remote SW updates via an EPIS on-board computer – the validator behaves as a peripheral of  the on-board computer,
  • possibility of acoustic announcements to passengers going through the checking procedure (contains a 5W amplifier),
  • communication via an Ethernet busbar with PoE power supply,
  • multilingual graphic environment,
  • Easy installation into a vehicle (one Ethernet supply cable).

We also developed a contactless card for this validator. It is possible to use this card to run a virtual wallet as well as other standard card functions.

Customer checking scripts

Passengers can use the validator to do the checking themselves.  They choose a ticket and pay for it using the card or they can have it prepaid by „a coupon“. To make it possible for passengers to do this the validator is equipped with a number of operation scripts – main screen, screen saver, card state, etc.. Each page allows customers to change the language using an icon in the left upper corner of the screen.

The card state screen provides complete card information. At the moment the state of the logs and the virtual wallet can be seen. Coupons and customer profiles are to be added in the near future.
