Basic properties of single color graphic LED panels
Single color graphic LED information panels are designed to display both text information and graphic information. The demanded information or graphics can be displayed in variously defined “windows”. They are produced in various sizes and renderings. The LED surface of these panels is seamless with no spaces between lines. These panels always contain LED diodes of the same color (red, yellow, white and others on demand).
The basic version is an independent LED panel that is placed on various support structures or on walls using various types of anchor (usually a mechanic frame on the back of the panel). If requested a support frame can be built into the panel. These panels are characterized by larger LED spacing (therefore also by visibility from longer distances) than in the case of digital stop signs.
Electronic display stop panels (hereinafter ELP) are designed for supplying to the passengers visual or voice information regarding public transportation vehicle arrivals, departures and delays, and also information regarding extraordinary situations in transportation and other news from the region. Up to date information is obtained from the dispatching or other sources. These panels are produced in a version with LED as well as in a version with LCD (see. LCD panels).
Communication abilities of the ELP electronic panels:
- GSM/GPRS or UMTS module
- Alternatively via the Internet (ADSL).
- WiFi modules for wireless connection of more panels at one stop.
- WiFi modules supplying public internet to the passengers (a public HOT SPOT).
- Busbars RS 485, Ethernet or optic fibers via “media” convertors.
Independent graphic LED panels – the ELP 3xx series
Graphic information LED panels of the ELP 3xx type are characterized by a significant amount of displayable signs. They are suitable for important stops or stations, transportation terminal access roads and large transfer junctions. They are designed in such a way that it is easy for a passenger to find information regarding departures, platform numbers and delays. They can also be equipped with a camera allowing the dispatching to gather information about the passengers.
They are produced in various versions. There are 5-line and 3-line versions, versions with a number of lines according to the wish of the customer and also double-sided or single-sided versions.

Graphic information LED panels of the ELP 302 type are characterized by a large number of displayable signs. They are suitable for big transition junctions. They are designed in such a way that it is easy for a passenger to obtain information regarding departures, platform numbers and delays.

Properties of the ELP 302 panels:
- High-performance LED board control unit module capable of processing picture at the frequency of 300 Hz.
- Control industrial PC with user HW. It can contain station/stop schedules for autonomous operation (off-line mode).
- MP3 player equipped with an acoustic switchboard (15 W) and with the possibility of sending dispatching announcements right into stop/station speakers.
- Integrated command receiver for the vision impaired which is capable of reading out texts including page turning.
- LED diode illumination regulation controlled by a sensor; receiving accurate time.
- Wide-angle camera for sending pictures and videos of the number and behavior of the passengers at stops.
- LED diode spacing can be 6,2 mm .
- Possibility of improving panel information abilities by adding a stop information stand: I-POINT with touchscreen control and a voice interface for direct passenger – dispatcher communication.
- Possibility of reserving the last line for the JSVV[1].
- Possibility of using independent windows for displaying texts and graphics.

These panels are produced in a 3-line version (single-sided or double-sided) and in a 5-line version. They are suitable for important stops.
Properties of the ELP 31x graphic information LED panels :

- Control industrial PC with user HW. It can contain station/stop schedules for autonomous operation (off-line mode).
- MP3 player equipped with an acoustic switchboard (15 W) and with the possibility of sending dispatching announcements right into stop/station speakers.
- Integrated command receiver for the vision impaired which is capable of reading out texts including page turning.

These panels are best used for displaying up to date schedules. They can also display graphic or text information sent directly from the dispatching. If requested these panels can be equipped with a camera system, communication abilities – a GSM/GPRS, UMTS modem, a WiFi hotspot, outer temperature sensor, a , command receiver for the vision impaired etc.

Graphic information LED stop panels – the ELP 330 series
These panels (the concept is prepared for realization) are best used for displaying extended information regarding the current state of transportation or off-line information based on schedules. Since they are equipped with a seamless display surface they can display text information sent from the control center. They are equipped with a GSM/GPRS, UMTS modem or with a WiFi unit for communication with the control center and command receivers for the vision impaired. They are equipped with independent time and date displays.
They are designed primarily for the PID[2]. The basic matrix contains 60 x 280 LED diodes in a 5 mm raster enabling the panels to display complex information regarding departures..

Properties of the ELP 330 panels :
- LED panel control unit – ELP MCU 23 produced by our company. This unit can directly control LED panels and MELP LED diode voltage regulators. The control depends on the surrounding light.
- The control unit is equipped with enough memory and communication channels, and an acoustic switchboard including a D class 15 W amplifier.
- GSM/GPRS/UMTS module – for communication with the dispatching and for accessing the internet
- LED panels – active panel surface consists of small boards equipped with high illumination LED diodes (color according to the wish of the customer) assembled in a mechanical frame creating one side of the panel.
- LED diode regulated power supply source – MELP 3x. This is a special power source developed by our company. Its efficiency is 90 % and there is the possibility of regulation in 256 steps. It also includes a controlled ventilator working based on the temperature of the board. This solution guarantees lengthening of lifespan and low consumption of the panel.
- Possible to add a command receiver for the vision impaired (an independent data input).
- Switched power source designed for panel power supply (230V / 12V / 200W) including all relevant distributions..
- Illumination sensor for regulating panel luminosity.
- Embedded waterproof speaker for announcements at stops (10 W / 4 Ohm).
Historic graphic information LED panels
A demonstration of a solution of electronic LED information panels that we participated in as a part of the „Electronic information panels for large loops and junctions“ project for the IDS JMK[3]. The project started in 2006. Our company realized all communication, video and voice functions of these panels. Since 2011 we have realized these panels completely including LED board production and control. Now all the panels are equipped with newer control units – PC rendering and UMTS communication.
